JusanJusan is a Japanese card game played with a hanafuda deck. The game is played by two to four players, and the objective is to be the first player to collect all 12 months of the year.
The game is played with a deck of 48 cards, each of which is decorated with a flower and a month of the year. The cards are divided into 12 suits, each of which contains four cards. The suits are ranked from January to December, with January being the highest-ranking suit.
To start the game, each player is dealt seven cards. The remaining cards are placed in a pile in the center of the table.
On your turn, you can either play a card from your hand or draw a card from the pile. If you play a card, you must match the flower or the month on the card to the card that is currently on top of the pile. If you cannot play a card, you must draw a card from the pile.
If you draw a card that matches the flower or the month on the card that is currently on top of the pile, you can play it immediately. If you draw a card that does not match, you must keep it in your hand.
The game continues until one player has collected all 12 months of the year. That player wins the game.
Variations
There are many variations of Jusan, but the basic rules are the same. Some common variations include:
* Jusan-ken: This variation is played with a deck of 36 cards. The game is played in the same way as Jusan, but the suits are ranked differently.
* Jusan-ko: This variation is played with a deck of 48 cards. The game is played in the same way as Jusan, but the players can also form melds of three or four cards.
* Jusan-daifuku: This variation is played with a deck of 48 cards. The game is played in the same way as Jusan, but the players can also collect sets of four cards of the same month.
