Gameplay:
Players take turns assuming the roles of Investigators and Witnesses. Investigators are tasked with uncovering the truth behind the events by questioning Witnesses, gathering evidence, and eliminating false leads. Witnesses, on the other hand, possess vital information but may choose to deceive or withhold the truth.
The game board represents a map of a city, divided into districts. Each district contains a series of buildings that can be explored by Investigators. During their turn, an Investigator may move to a district, question a Witness, or search for evidence. Witnesses may provide true or false information, and it's up to the Investigators to determine their credibility.
Evidence and Deduction:
As Investigators gather evidence, they can use it to eliminate false leads and narrow down the possibilities. Evidence can be collected from Witnesses, searched buildings, or acquired through special abilities. Each piece of evidence provides a clue that helps Investigators build a logical chain of reasoning.
Bluffing and Deception:
Witnesses have the option to bluff or withhold information. This adds an element of strategy and uncertainty to the game. Investigators must carefully evaluate the credibility of Witnesses and use their deductive skills to distinguish truth from falsehood.
Winning Conditions:
The game ends when all the events have been investigated and the true story has been uncovered. Investigators win if they correctly identify all the guilty parties and solve the mystery. Witnesses win if they successfully mislead the Investigators or prevent them from solving the mystery within a certain number of turns.
