ScentingScenting is a cooperative deduction game for 2-6 players aged 10 and up. The goal of the game is to identify the hidden scent of a target card by asking yes or no questions to other players.
Setup
The game is played with a deck of 50 scent cards, each of which has a unique scent. One player is designated as the "Scent Master" and secretly chooses a target scent card. The Scent Master then shuffles the remaining scent cards and deals 5 cards to each player.
Gameplay
On a player's turn, they can ask any other player a yes or no question about the scent of their cards. For example, they could ask, "Do you have any cards that smell like vanilla?"
The player being asked must answer truthfully. If they have a card that matches the scent, they must reveal it. If they do not have a card that matches the scent, they say "no."
Players can also use their turns to "sniff" the target scent card. To do this, they place their nose over the card and take a deep breath. They can then ask the Scent Master one yes or no question about the scent of the target card.
The game continues until one player correctly identifies the hidden scent of the target card.
Winning
The player who correctly identifies the hidden scent of the target card wins the game. If no player can correctly identify the scent after 10 rounds, the Scent Master wins.
Variations
There are several variations of the game that can be played to make it more challenging or more cooperative. For example, players can be allowed to ask each other multiple questions on their turn, or they can be required to answer questions with more detail.
Educational Value
Scenting is a fun and educational game that can help players develop their deductive reasoning skills, their sense of smell, and their communication skills. The game is also a great way to teach children about the different scents that exist in the world.
