Scopa PiùScopa Più is a trick-taking card game of Italian origin that is typically played with two players or two teams of two players. The game uses a standard Italian deck of 40 cards, which are divided into four suits: denari (coins), bastoni (clubs), spade (swords), and coppe (cups). Each suit contains ten cards, numbered from 1 to 7, plus a jack, queen, and king.
The goal of Scopa Più is to be the first player or team to reach a score of 11 points. Points are earned by taking tricks and by capturing cards on the table.
Gameplay
To start the game, the deck is shuffled and each player is dealt three cards. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the center of the table.
The player to the left of the dealer leads by playing a card face up on the table. The other players must then play a card that matches the suit or rank of the card that was led. If a player cannot play a matching card, they must draw a card from the deck.
The player who plays the highest-ranking card of the suit that was led wins the trick and takes all of the cards that were played in the trick. The player who wins the trick then leads the next card.
Capturing Cards
In addition to taking tricks, players can also capture cards on the table by playing a card that matches the rank of a card that is already on the table. For example, if there is a 5 of denari on the table, a player can capture it by playing a 5 of any other suit.
When a player captures a card, they place it face up in front of them. Captured cards are worth points at the end of the game.
Scopa
A "scopa" is a special combination that occurs when a player captures all of the cards of a single suit. A scopa is worth one point.
Primiera
A "primiera" is a special combination that occurs when a player captures all of the sevens in a single suit. A primiera is worth two points.
End of the Game
The game ends when one player or team reaches a score of 11 points. The player or team with the highest score wins the game.
Variations
There are many variations of Scopa Più, but the basic rules of the game remain the same. Some of the most common variations include:
* Scopa d'Assi: In this variation, only the aces can be used to capture cards on the table.
* Scopa di Denari: In this variation, only the denari suit can be used to capture cards on the table.
* Scopa a Quindici: In this variation, the game is played to 15 points instead of 11 points.
